Guidelines

You are required to undergo a medical review when either of the following scenarios occurs:

1. Your ability to effectively perform your Operationally Ready National Service (ORNS) duties is affected by the development of a new medical condition (i.e. like a slipped disc, high blood pressure) or having undergone surgery for a medical condition 
2. You have been given a long-term medical excuse for an existing injury and the period coincides with an ORNS activity that you are unable to attend

During the medical review, the Medical Officer (MO) will review your current medical condition and excuse you from any ORNS activity that he deems you to be unsuitable for. 

The MO may refer you to the Medical Board for a re-evaluation of your Physical Employment Status (PES) if your medical condition affects your ability to discharge your ORNS duties for an extended period of 6 months or more.

Your PES determines your medical suitability towards performing various ORNS activities such as taking your IPPT, deployment in combat situations, and carrying arms during your In-Camp Training (ICT).
