MINDEF’s presence at 20th Infocomm Commerce Conference and SME Expo 2017, held from 16-17 Aug 17, elicited a substantial amount of interest.  This afforded a great ice-breaker and opportunity for the National Service Directorate (NSD) to proliferate the message of National Service (NS) being the bedrock of Singapore’s defence, which in turn, is vital in ensuring a stable and conducive environment for businesses to thrive. Galvanised to in pledge their commitment and support for NS and Total Defence (TD), more than 200 companies readily came on board the NS Mark accreditation at the Expo.

The NS Mark is a national accreditation scheme to recognise businesses and employers who have been supportive of NS and TD. With this accreditation scheme, more pro-NS businesses and organisations can pledge their support for NS, and be recognised for their efforts in promoting an NS-friendly workplace culture and adopting human resource practices that support operationally-ready national servicemen (NSmen) in fulfilling their NS duties.

The 20th Infocomm Commerce Conference and SME Expo was organised in conjunction with the 19th annual SME Conference by the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCCI). The Expo, with more than 6,000 delegates, served as a platform for SMEs to source for solutions and service providers from various industries.

We thank SCCCI for providing this platform to broaden support base for NS amongst businesses and employers.
