The e-PREP scheme is a MINDEF initiative introduced for full-time National Servicemen (NSF) to upgrade and learn. You can access online preparatory and refresher courses available 24/7 at your convenience. The knowledge and skills that you have acquired will facilitate your transition from NSF life into the workforce or further studies.
You can participate in this scheme 1 year before and after your Operationally Ready Date (ORD). You will be notified on your eligibility by post.
Credit Allocation and Usage
You will be allocated $350 worth of e-PREP credits once you are eligible. MINDEF subsidises up to 90% of the course fee, subject to your credit balance. There is no minimum entry qualification required for most courses. Certificates will be awarded for selected courses.
If you choose to sign up for a course priced at $250, you only need to pay 10%, or $25. MINDEF will pay 90%, or $225, out of your $350 credit. You will then be left with $125 of credits. Subsequently, if you decide to take another course priced at $200, you can utilise all your remaining credits of $125 to pay for this course. The balance of $75 will be borne by you.
You can still enrol for the courses offered by MINDEF after utilising all your credits but you will not be eligible for any subsidies.
Our many training partners include established local Institutes of Higher Learning and e-learning vendors, offering more than 2,000 subjects in 4 broad categories:
