Banks united in support of national defence!

On 6 Apr 18, about 60 local and foreign banks as well as financial institutions attended a luncheon hosted by the Association of Banks in Singapore (ABS) to learn about the NS Mark Accreditation Scheme. About half of those present pledged their support for National Service (NS) through the scheme.

This reflects positively on the banking industry in Singapore as it demonstrates an understanding of the importance of NS, the crucial role employers play in supporting their Operationally Ready National Serviceman (NSman) employees in fulfilling their NS commitments and how being secure as a nation ensures a stable and conducive environment for businesses to thrive.

The NS Mark is a national accreditation scheme to recognise businesses and employers who have been supportive of NS and Total Defence (TD). Through this accreditation scheme, pro-NS businesses and organisations can pledge their support for NS and be recognised for their efforts in promoting an NS-friendly workplace culture and adopting human resource practices that support NSmen in fulfilling their NS duties.
