Introduction of the Volunteer Extension Scheme, VES (NSmen)

SPF is introducing the Volunteer Extension Scheme (VES). PNSMen who have completed their NS liability may volunteer to continue serving beyond their statutory age by joining the VES. The scheme is introduced to maximise the expertise of SROD personnel and provide an avenue for former NSMen to continue contributing to SPF. VES is featured in Section 68 of the Police Force Act, Chapter 235.

PNSMen (With NS liability) who have passed their statutory age of 40 years (Junior Officers) & 50 years (Senior Officers) may apply. Ex-regulars from SPF are also able to apply 3 months before reaching the statutory age.

Volunteers will be required to serve based on their projected route-of-advancement or 3 years, whichever is longer. They will be allowed to renew their appointment and serve up to the regular officer’s compulsory retirement age.

Benefits of volunteering

• Paid Service & make up pay
• Eligibility for KAH/CAH allowances for Key/Command appointment holders
• Considered for all promotions and awards on the same basis as NSMen
• Eligible for medical benefits, injury compensation and insurance.
• Eligible for letter of appreciation

Those keen on volunteering should contact their Division/Unit’s PNS Personnel Officer about VES.
